Integration has proven one of the most difficult challenges in the ICT landscape and receipt digitization is no exception for it. In fact, our research has shown one of the reasons behind slow adoption of receipt digitization technology in the retail sector has always been “integration costs and complexities”. In effect, no receipt digitization solution can capture the market without first making it possible to be adopted by existing retailers without forcing massive integration costs and complexities.
Accordingly, Secure Receipt Wallet is proud to be the first to propose a zero-code zero-change integration option as part of its receipt digitization platform offerings.
This chapter describes how the zero-code zero-change integration model is facilitated using Secure Receipt Wallet CloudConnect Agent.
Secure Receipt Wallet CloudConnect Agent is a patented tool, facilitating print interception and receipt data extraction from existing POS systems without having to make any change in them. It includes a virtual print driver and a spooling application that abstracts all SDK and API calls necessary to perform end-to-end encryption and transfer receipts to recipients. Practically, it replaces the typical physical printer and makes it possible to directly bridge the existing POS systems to the cloud, in a secure and consistent fashion.
Figure 2 illustrates the zero-code zero-change integration model using Secure Receipt Wallet CloudConnect Agent.
The merits of using Secure Receipt Wallet CloudConnect Agent include the followings:
1. Zero-change zero-code integration: Any business can start issuing smart receipts in minutes using Secure Receipt Wallet CloudConnect Agent in minutes, without having to change their POS systems, legacy or modern.
2. Easy adoption: The roll-out of Secure Receipt Wallet CloudConnect Agent does not need much technical expertise.
The demerits of using Secure Receipt Wallet CloudConnect Agent include the followings:
1. Limited availability: At the moment, Secure Receipt Wallet CloudConnect Agent is only available for Windows Vista and later mostly due to the dependency of the Secure Receipt Wallet .NET SDKs on TLS 1.2 which is not directly available on Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server. At the moment, the development of the tool for other platforms is in progress.
